Melissa White was a seven-time NCAA Division III All-American at SUNY-Geneseo where she won the national indoor title at 5,000m in 2003. The following year she ran her lifetime PR at 10,000m and competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials at that distance. She was a member of the 2004 Beijing Ekiden Relay team and competed at the 2004 IAAF Half Marathon World Championships. On the roads in 2006 she won the Walt Disney World Half Marathon, was second at The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle 8-K (27:21 PR) and first American woman at the Utica Boilermaker 15K (51:48 PR).
White is originally from Naples, NY. She played soccer, basketball and softball in high school, and nearly opted for soccer over running when she reached college. In 2003 she was the New York State NCAA Division III Woman of the Year and the SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year. She earned her degree in business administration and information systems from SUNY-Geneseo in 2003. White has been a member of the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project team since 2003.
